Cover Supervisors Needed Across Hampshire
Register for short-notice cover-supervision assignments with secondary schools across Hampshire, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester, the New Forest and surrounding areas of Hampshire.
As a Cover Supervisor, you won't normally be expected to plan or formally teach new material. Instead, you'll supervise classes while pupils complete work set by their usual teacher.
This role suits people who are confident communicating with young people and can establish clear classroom expectations. It can be particularly suitable for experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates considering teacher training, sports coaches, youth workers and people with relevant school or education experience.
What assignments may involve
- Supervising classes during teacher absence
- Explaining the work pupils have been asked to complete
- Maintaining an orderly learning environment
- Managing behaviour in line with school policy
- Recording attendance
- Reporting any issues to the appropriate member of staff
Experience and qualifications
Recent experience with secondary-age pupils and confidence supervising a classroom while pupils complete pre-set work.
- Confidence working with Secondary-age pupils
- Strong communication skills
- Calm and consistent behaviour management
- Reliability and professionalism
- Previous education or youth experience where possible
