Teaching Assistants Needed Across Hampshire

Join our Teaching Assistant network for classroom and pupil-support assignments across Hampshire, including schools in Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester, the New Forest and surrounding areas of Hampshire.

Area: Hampshire Phase: Primary & Secondary Assignments: Daily and short-term classroom support

Teaching Assistant work on the supply network covers general classroom support, one-to-one and small-group work, and SEND support depending on your experience. You might be booked in advance for planned absence or asked to step in at short notice when a school needs extra support.

We work with schools that need dependable TAs who can fit quickly into an existing classroom. If you have school-based or care experience, and a genuine commitment to helping pupils learn, we'd like to hear from you. You can let us know the settings and support roles you're comfortable with.

What assignments may involve

  • Supporting the class teacher with lessons and activities
  • Working one-to-one or with small groups of pupils
  • Helping pupils stay engaged with their learning
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs where relevant
  • Following school policies and any individual care or learning plans
  • Assisting with the general running of the classroom

Experience and qualifications

Relevant school or child-support experience; a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification is helpful but not required for every assignment.

  • Experience supporting children or young people
  • Great communication and teamwork
  • Patience, empathy and reliability
  • SEND experience where relevant
  • A willingness to work across different schools and settings

How the Supply Network works

  1. Tell us you are available, and we keep you in mind for suitable bookings
  2. Choose the locations you want to work in, including this town or city and the surrounding area
  3. Register for the role you want, and we match it against requests from local schools and settings
  4. Schools contact us about their cover needs, often at short notice, and we look for people already registered
  5. The more flexible and available you are, the more opportunities may come your way
  6. We manage the paperwork, so you can focus on the work
  7. All candidates are vetted and checked in line with our safeguarding procedures before any work

Safeguarding and vetting

Every candidate is interviewed, identity-checked and reference-checked before joining. Where required for the role, we also support you through the relevant vetting and safeguarding checks, and we work with schools to make sure their expectations are clear from the start.

This is an ongoing Supply Network opportunity. Registering does not create a contract of employment and does not guarantee that work will be offered, or that a specific vacancy exists at any school. We will contact you when suitable opportunities arise based on your availability and preferences.
